There is no Mr Samuel Hall – at least, not in our organisation. One of our founders, Hervé Nicolle took inspiration for the naming of the company from the song “Sam Hall” (most famously associated with artists Johnny Cash and Alain Bashung), which tells the story of a folk hero and which, since it was originally composed in the 1840’s, has been lovingly adopted as a ‘local’ ballad by countless communities (particularly ones going through hardship) in different parts of the world.

It was hoped that, like the song, our organisation would be one that would be embraced by the local population wherever it went, not as outsiders but as part of the permanent, endeared landscape.
