Humanitarian Data Partnerships: Expert Discussions on Regulation, Ethics and Accountability

17.02.2020 - Hervé Nicolle, Samuel Hall’s Co-Director and Resilience Pillar lead, participated in the expert meeting which was co-convened by the Tilburg Law School and International Committee of the Red Cross, and shared his experience in the session on ethics. The event is part of the global data justice initiative and is thus exploring the phenomenon of ‘data partnership’ within the humanitarian sector in order to identify and address the regulatory, ethical and accountability concerns associated with this model of humanitarian aid. Expert meetings took place in the Netherlands, Geneva and Nairobi - with the Nairobi one focusing on how the sector can better govern the collected data within partnerships between humanitarian organisations and private entities.
