Nassim argues that, despite attempts to seduce international media by Taliban spokespeople, the group cannot be trusted to respect women’s rights. She notes that there is a disconnect between the Taliban’s words and their deeds. Women, now living under Taliban rule after the group’s rapid advance throughout Afghanistan, are forced to wear a Burqa, to only leave the house with a male chaperon, forced to marry if they are single or widowed and stopped from attending university or work.
