Research Communications

We want our research to be accessible and to be used. We are rethinking our formats, language, and mediums of dissemination to ensure that the voices of communities and individuals are not just amplified but heard and acknowledged by changemakers for more inclusive societies.

We work with our research participants to distill and translate complex research findings to trigger action, exchanges, and partnerships.

This page shows you how you can engage with us as we share our research, add to knowledge, and build constructive narratives on core issues of our time.

Write to development@samuelhall.org to partner with us.

Samuel Hall’s Research Communication operates on three pillars

PARTNERSHIPS

How and why we collaborate?

Our collaborative work with governments, international organisations, local refugee-led research organisations, and community leaders has made us realise that migration partnerships open the door for actors – beyond governments – to join the conversation and take action.

Localising research is at the epicentre of Samuel Hall. We are based in the contexts we study and advocate for close collaboration with local researchers and communities to understand and support each context. Linking local actors and issues with decision-makers and donors to devise innovative solutions is enshrined in our mission.

What do we do with our data and the knowledge we produce?

Our data is often based on commissioned research pieces. But we do more than just publish reports. Our researchers are recognised experts in their field who aim to reshape narratives on often misunderstood issues. They participate in conferences, write blogs, produce think pieces and academic articles, organise and facilitate events, from community workshops to policy meetings. They use our data to speak to bigger messages of inclusion and integration.

Through our engagement with media and professional communicators, we ensure that critical information and evidence receives the spotlight it deserves. Thanks to our digital channels, we spread the word to broader audiences. We deploy user-friendly formats like illustrations, social media, videos, data visualisation, events, and photography to help raise awareness and advocate our causes.

STORYTELLING

How do we amplify voices from the frontlines?

Samuel Hall’s research and mission are defined by the voices of people and communities that are as powerful individually as they are collectively. By humanising our research, amplifying voices and connecting people, we develop new capacities through storytelling. Through sharing stories from our research on digital channels, including our multimedia blog, Samuel Hall Stories, we strive to move beyond big data, algorithms and research reports to focus on stories from the frontlines – stories that aim to challenge stereotypes and amplify unheard narratives.
